The cost and duration of legal proceedings depend on the nature, complexity and circumstances of each case. The level of preparation required, the volume of evidence and whether a matter proceeds to a contested hearing  can all affect the overall time and cost involved.

Clear, realistic advice is central to the process. Clients are encourages to discuss their circumstances, likely costs and anticipated timescales as the outset, allowing them to make informed decisions about how best to proceed.

Instructions & Direct Public Access
Timescale Expectations
Advice is usually provided within 14–28 days of receiving instructions. Timescales for hearings are dictated by the court's availability and the specific requirements of the case.
Instructions are accepted from solicitors and, where appropriate, directly from members of the public through the public accesss scheme.

Direct Public Access may enable individuals to obtain specialist legal advice and representation without first instructing a solicitor, provided the matter is suitable for this route.

Solicitors and prospective clients are welcome to enquire about availability, fees, anticipate timescales and suitability of their case for instruction.
- Complexity and Volume: The legal complexity of the issues and the amount of preparation and paperwork required.
- Urgency: Whether the work needs to be completed within a very short timeframe.
- Hearing Details: The length of the hearing and the distance required for travel.
- Additional Work: The need for additional meetings, conferences, or written advice beyond the initial scope.
